MTN LDFW 2011 Offical Campaign - People. Passion. Glamour.

MTN, in conjunction with Style House, will launch the first ever MTN Lagos Fashion and Design Week (LFDW) on October 26 2011 in Lagos, Nigeria. The 4-day event will see the Eko Hotel Expo Centre transformed into a hub for the brightest stars in Nigerian fashion and design, until October 29 2011. The MTN LFDW is a bold advance for the Nigerian fashion industry in its strive for global recognition. By providing a world-class platform for designers to showcase their work to their target audience, the MTN LFDW aims to promote the business of fashion in Nigeria and to nurture emerging talent.

2012 Costume Institute Gala and Exhibit Spotlight on Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada .

As rumored, the 2012 Costume Institute Gala and exhibit will focus on Italian designers Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada.

“Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada: On Fashion" will run May 10 to Aug. 19, and will be underwritten by Amazon alongside Conde Nast. Serving as honorary chair at the May 7 gala is Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon, with Carey Mulligan, Miuccia Prada, and Anna Wintour as co-chairs. Baz Luhrmann will act as creative consultant to the exhibition, helping to oversee its design.

Curators Harold Koda and Andrew Bolton aim to examine the way Schiaparelli and Prada broke fashion convention and played with the ideas of good and bad taste, as well as their affinity to the art world. “Once we got Schiaparelli as the core part of what we wanted to do, it became a logical jump to Miuccia,” Koda said. “They are both Italian women, and even though Miuccia might not describe herself as a feminist, what we see is these two very strong women with a very strong aesthetic.”

The exhibit is expected to feature about 80 designs by Schiaparelli from the late '20s through the early '50s and by Prada from the late '80s through present day, drawn primarily from The Costume Institute's collection and the Prada archive.

Kanye West & Maroon 5 to perform at the Victoria Secret Fashion Show.

News is starting to flow about this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which tapes in a little less than a month at Manhattan's 69th Street Armory on Nov. 9.

Today, Kanye West and Maroon 5 were announced as the show's musical guests. Notably, Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine's girlfriend, Anne Vyalitsyna, is confirmed to walk in the show, and West's rumored girlfriend Chanel Iman — who recently closed his debut womenswear show at a day's notice — will also walk as one of the Victoria's Secret Angels.

Speaking of Angels, this year's lineup seems curiously devoid of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, throwing into question whether she will be walking at all — or just walking without wings. Miranda Kerr, Chanel Iman, Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima, Doutzen Kroes, Candice Swanepoel, Erin Heatherton, Lily Aldridge, Behati Prinsloo, and Lindsay Ellingson, however, are all expected.
